not OK Computer

Ok it's been a while...sorry about that. Part of the reason is that recently my computer has been in very poor health, and is currently clinging to life support under the care of the great Dr. Martin. Hopefully it will pull through and then I'll be able to keep up the blog and keep up with people too.

In other news, I'm going home in a week. Out of control! It hasn't dawned on me yet. I'm going to be such a whackball. But going home is long overdue and I can't wait for the friends and family.

In sad news, it hasn't been snowing at all and the ski areas won't open.

I have 6 bonenkais/christmas parties over the next 4 days. It's crazy crunch time.

As a final note, I have continued my quest to become a 7 year old Japanese girl and I spent hours yesterday learning origami from an actual 7 year old Japanese girl. I can make a heart, and a box, and a little dancing guy. Oh, snap! I'm awesome.

雪がふろよ

First snow of the season tonight.

Had a dump back home in New Mexico too.

Glad the forces of nature can be in sync to bring everywhere the gift of snow.

Tonight I had a nice meal with the Ota's, drank a beer to celebrate the first snow, and drank some sake from a big 4 liter box.

Can't believe another winter is upon me again, here in snow country. It's amazing how much everything changes here when the snow comes. Not only the landscape, but also the heart and attitude of the people. People become much heartier and tougher. The beginning of snow season makes many here look to the future with heaviness, because they have to dig in their heels for the long haul. I think I'm secretly resented for rejoicing in the snowfall, but you can't deny it's beautiful.

I'm going home in 3 weeks!
