I'll call this the source flame just cuz it sounds cool. Anyway, this fire is lit towards the back of the crowd. This is where all the bloodthirsty villagers light their torches before they attack the young guys at the bottom. Eventually it's pushed up to the shrine and used to actually set it on fire.
