aaaah

It's dumping dumping dumping again and leaving huge amounts of powder everywhere!

For those of you that are so angry and jealous at me that I'm surrounded by a winter wonderland, it's not without it's downfalls...I came back from Thailand so early with the intention of skiing a lot, but when there is so much snow there is equally as many problems. I wanted to go skiing yesterday, but the roads were impassable over the pass and a snowplow blocked me in my apartment anyway. Today, there were 4 avalanches in the ski areas, closing down a few of them and derailing a train. I also have been instructed to not move my car out of my apartment because there is a huge cornice of snow 4 stories up that is threatening to crash down at any moment.

I just wanna go skiing.

One of the huge snowpiles in my parking cave that occasionally keep me from digging out fast enough to make it in time for night skiing.

update: Here's some info from the web on Snowjapan about Yuzawa town, up the road and where my favorite ski areas are located...

The official numbers are in - this is the most snow Yuzawa has seen at this time of year since records began about 80 years ago. Yuzawa now officially has 306cm of snow, compared with just 60cm on average for this time of year! Part of Naeba did eventually open later in the day but there were very few people braving the conditions - with similar conditions at most resorts in the area. Local trains are still not running from Minakami in Gunma to north of Yuzawa because of the derailed train from yesterday. And because of the problems on Route 17, parts of the Kanetsu Expressway from Yuzawa into Gunma were opened up for today for people to use for free.It is still snowing, though not as heavy as it has been today, and between 20-40cm forecast from now until 9am tomorrow morning - followed by more heavy snow tomorrow afternoon..... it just doesn't stop!

For those of you who are metrically challenged, 306 cm is 10 feet of snow.

It was 45 in Sydney on Sunday (that's 113 F for you Americans). Can you pack me up some snow and pop it in the mail?
